Supporting #ANDYSMANCLUB Through Safeguarding Training

Some opportunities mean a little more than others.

Last Month, Think Mental Health is proud to be delivering safeguarding training to staff and facilitators from #ANDYSMANCLUB over three days.

On the surface, this is an opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen safeguarding practices, and support the incredible work being carried out by one of the UK's most recognised men's mental health charities.

But for our Director, Paul Longley, this partnership represents something much deeper.
From Helping Build Clubs to Supporting Them Years Later

Long before Think Mental Health existed, Paul played an active role in the development of ANDYSMANCLUB in Hull.

As the charity grew from a grassroots movement into a nationwide organisation, Paul was involved in supporting the launch and development of more than 20 clubs across the country. He witnessed first-hand the impact that talking, listening, and peer support can have on men facing difficult times.

Fast forward to today, and Paul now leads Think Mental Health, delivering workplace mental health, leadership, wellbeing and safeguarding training to organisations throughout the UK and internationally.
To now return to ANDYSMANCLUB through Think Mental Health and provide safeguarding training to the people continuing this life-changing work feels like a genuine full-circle moment.
Supporting Those Who Support Others

Every week, ANDYSMANCLUB facilitators create safe spaces where men can talk openly and honestly about the challenges they face.

While much attention is rightly given to those accessing support, it is equally important to ensure that the people providing that support are equipped with the knowledge, confidence and skills needed to respond appropriately when concerns arise.

Safeguarding is about creating safe environments, recognising vulnerability, understanding responsibilities, and knowing how to take action when needed.

By delivering this training, we are helping to ensure that staff and facilitators feel supported in their role and confident in handling safeguarding concerns effectively.

A Shared Commitment to Mental Health

Both Think Mental Health and ANDYSMANCLUB share a common goal: improving lives through better mental health awareness, stronger support networks, and meaningful conversations.

Although both organisations have grown significantly over the years, their roots remain firmly planted in Hull.

This local partnership demonstrates the power of community, collaboration, and a shared passion for making a difference.

Looking Ahead

We're incredibly proud to be working with ANDYSMANCLUB and supporting the people who give their time, energy and compassion to helping others.

Sometimes, the most meaningful moments are the ones that bring you back to where part of your journey began.

This is definitely one of those moments.
